Design Break
This past week I have had quite a few commissioned crochet items to work on, which of course, I do appreciate, but every once in a while I have to stop crocheting for others and take a quick design break for myself.
Today was one of those days. I worked all morning cooking, cleaning and caring for Baby J and then worked all afternoon at my LYS. In the evening I started finishing a project that will be a belated birthday gift, a scarf to match this little guy’s Sock Monkey hat (which his parents purchased from me previously.)

As I worked on the scarf I began to feel that I needed to take a little creative break and let one of those ideas rattling around in my right brain spill out. I decided to finish the scarf tomorrow and I retrieved from my stash a ball of Bergere de France Fourrere and a ball of Kertzer Marble Chunky.
My size N crochet hook and I proceeded to whip out a little hat that I’ve dubbed, Gretel in the Woods (the feminine side of my Hansel and Gretel set) and then, rather than adding the usual Irish Rose as its adornment, I added a row of the Fourrere to the brim.
TADA!

Now, Baby J is my muse for all things baby and I have to say, she can be somewhat of a diva, so when her cell began to ring right in the middle of our photo shoot, I can’t say that I was surprised.

“Excuse me for a sec, please. I have to take this.”

“Really, do we have to talk about this now? Let me call you back later, K?

“Sorry about that! Turning my ringer off now.”
We proceeded with our little impromptu photo shoot and then Baby J got all packed and headed out-of-town for a road trip back to Illinois with her Mama and Nick to visit family for a few days.

It sure is going to be quiet in this house all week.
