Indie Emporium 2010

The 4th annual Indie Emporium Craft Fair slash Art Exhibit slash Fashion Show has now come and gone and once again it totally lived up to all of our expectations!

This is my third year attending IE, but my first year there as a vendor. My friend, Andrea, of NeilDesign and I shared a table space. She displayed her beautiful knit cowls, scarves and fingerless gloves on one half of the table.

My main product were my sweet little crochet infant headband and wristlet sets which were on display on the other half of the table. Out of the eight sets that I had available, I sold all but two! My wonderful husband painted this display cabinet for me and drilled the holes for my hooks.

I also offered some soft cotton crochet washcloths and a few acrylic tawashi dish scrubbers, for those who may not have a baby to shop for.

Right in the center of our table we displayed our collaborated products, knit headband/ear warmers with crochet flowers. Andrea knitted the headbands and I crocheted the flowers. They are very cute and we almost sold all that we made. We ended up with only one left out of the six we had on display!

Andrea had some very nice display stands that her Dad made for her and many people enjoyed trying on her cowls, scarves and gloves. I was really glad I thought to grab a mirror for our table because it really came in handy!

One of Andrea’s very happy customers let me photograph her in her new cowl. When she exclaimed, “It’s perfect!” it really made Andrea’s day! We really want people to enjoy wearing our items as much as we enjoy making them.

Day 2 of Indie Emporium was extra special for me because I had my little grand daughter, Josie with me all day. She was my little super model, wearing her crochet headband and wristlet so everyone could see how cute they are on a real baby!

I had photos available to show how cute they are being worn by Josie and by my friend, Mary Clare’s daughter, Megan. But, there’s nothing like having a real live model to really show them off!

Part of the time I held her so she could be a part of the action and part of the time she hung out in her little bouncy seat, relaxing and/or napping.

She is truly an amazing child…so happy and good-natured. We were at IE together from 10:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. and here she is, around 8:00 p.m. still laughing and having a great time!

When I had time to do a little shopping for myself, I headed straight over to the booth of Art by Bethany to get a cute little plush monster for Josie! She loves it! And right next to Bethany’s booth was one of my favorite artists, Audrey Eclectic, so of course I added some more of her art to my collection!

The next Indie Emporium will be on September 30 and October 1, 2011 and will be located at Living Arts at 307 E. Brady in Tulsa. If you are in the Tulsa area you should really make plans to come out! And if you’ve ever been to Living Arts, then you know why we have reason to be super excited about next year’s IE!
